Shooting in Louisiana Theater

photo:  cnn.comI heard about this yesterday after spending several hours in a movie theater in Dubuque, Iowa.  There are no words that can express the profound sadness that follows this story, and my condolences go out to the families of all of the injured victims in this tragedy.  Today, I was back at a movie theater in Davenport, Iowa watching Mr. Holmes.  It was fantastic. After seeing the film, my mother asked me if I ever worried about something happening to me while I was at the theater. …See More

Something Rotten at Rotten Tomatoes

Last night, I was able to see Marvel Studio's newest film, Ant-Man, and I thought it was a fantastic film, filled with humor, action, adventure, surprise cameos and special special effects.  But as I sat waiting for the film to begin, I was considering the score it had on Rotten Tomatoes.  77% is a very strong…

40th Anniversary of JAWS

Today, I spent a couple of hours in my local theater watching a classic in horror, Steven Spielberg's Jaws.   What a great time it was.

This month is the 40th anniversary of the release of the movie and to celebrate, Fathom is playing Jaws in certain special showings (much like they have done for several other classic movies over the years.)  The interest in the movie was still very high as my theater was packed (perhaps it had something to do with Father's…

Super Bowl Commercial is not on your side

For the last few years, I have been blogging a list of the best Super Bowl commercials shown during the big game.  However, this year, most of the Super Bowl commercials were unremarkable (which is astounding considering 30 second spot during the game cost 4.5 million dollars).  The only…
